Met het uitbrengen van het album Birdcatcher II lost toetsenist\/zanger Roel Spanjers een langverwachte belofte in: hij maakt eindelijk de opvolger van het obscure meesterwerkje Birdcatcher (Munich Records 2006) Birdcatcher II bevat tien nieuwe \u2018Roots Noir\u2019 songs, opgenomen samen met gitarist\/multi-instrumentalist Eric van Dijsseldonk en drummer\/producer Gabriel Peeters en tal van gasten zoals Soulzanger Malford Milligan uit Texas. Gemasterd door Kevin Reeves in Nashville.<\/p>

De luisteraar dwaalt door een rijk muzikaal landschap dat bekend klinkt, maar veel aan de verbeelding overlaat. Echo\u2019s van Bobby Charles, Hi Records Soul uit Memphis, The Band of het New Orleans van Allen Toussaint. Maar alles vooral heel eigen, fris en met een \u2018indie\u2019 randje. Een waar album vol gevarieerde songs die muzikaal, thematisch en sferisch toch sterk verbonden zijn.<\/p>
